Welcome to Luna Ray Jewellery! I'm Lorna, the designer and owner of this creative venture that took flight in an unexpected way during the 2021 lockdown. From my humble garden shed, I began crafting handmade bohemian jewellery that's meant to be worn with love. Starting with clay jewellery, which I taught myself entirely through online resources, I quickly delved into the art of metalsmithing, working with more refined materials such as sterling silver and gold vermeil, which now form the core of our latest collections.
My inspiration? Nature's exquisite beauty, which I translate into each meticulously handcrafted piece. From the initial design to the packaging and marketing, it's all a one-woman show. My background was in sales and marketing, but the lockdown offered me the precious gift of time to reignite my creativity, thanks to an art and design portfolio course I had completed years ago.
Our collections embrace boho chic while upholding a commitment to sustainable fashion. Every piece is hypoallergenic and nickel-free, ensuring comfort for even the most sensitive ears. No two pieces are identical, making each one uniquely yours.
Dedicated to zero waste and sustainability, I repurpose materials throughout the creation process. Our jewelry is beautifully gift-wrapped in eco-friendly packaging, accompanied by a handwritten note, creating the perfect gift for yourself or a loved one.
Luna Ray Jewellery proudly graces the shelves of 30 stockists and counting in Ireland, Portugal & the USA. I hope you adore these designs as much as I do and, most importantly, enjoy wearing them! The Process
Our passion for jewellery is what drives us to create high-quality, handcrafted jewellery pieces that are as fun to wear as they are to make.
The creation process of polymer clay jewellery begins with selecting the perfect clay colours and textures to bring your vision to life. We mix the colours ourselves to create the desired shade of clay. Then, the clay is carefully shaped and molded using various tools such as cutters, molds, sculpting and carving tools to create the perfect design.
Once your piece is shaped, it is time to cure it in the oven. This process allows the clay to harden and become durable so that it can withstand daily wear and tear. After curing, the clay piece is sanded and polished to create a smooth finish and bring out the details of the design.
The possibilities with polymer clay are truly endless, and that's why we love working with this material. It is so versatile and customizable that you can create a piece that is truly one-of-a-kind. You can mix colours to create unique patterns, add textures, blend in glitter or beads, or even create intricate canes that can be used to make stunning jewellery pieces.
We take great pride in crafting each piece with the utmost attention to detail. We want our customers to feel confident and comfortable wearing our jewellery pieces for years to come. We invite you to explore our collection and experience the beauty and versatility of polymer clay jewellery for yourself. Thank you for choosing us as your go-to source for unique and handcrafted jewellery!
Quality
Our Clay Jewellery
Stainless steel is a versatile and durable material that is used in a variety of industries, including jewellery making. Gold plated 24K stainless steel is one of the materials used to create our stunning clay pieces. It is a strong and long-lasting material that is resistant to tarnishing, making it an excellent choice for jewellery that is designed to be worn every day. In addition to its practical benefits, stainless steel has a sleek and modern look that pairs well with a variety of styles. Our stainless steel pieces are carefully crafted with attention to detail, resulting in unique and timeless designs.
Our Fine Jewellery
Recycled sterling silver is the foundation of our sustainable and ethical approach to crafting beautiful pieces. The recycled silver is carefully sourced and refined to create a material that is just as stunning and durable as newly mined silver, but with a much lower environmental impact. Each piece of jewellery is expertly handcrafted with a focus on quality and longevity, ensuring that every customer can cherish their purchase for years to come. By choosing recycled sterling silver, we are not only creating beautiful pieces of art, but also making a positive impact on the planet.
Packaging & Sustainability
We believe in the importance of sustainability and taking care of the planet we live on. That's why we prioritize using sustainable packaging materials for all of our products. We understand the impact that packaging waste can have on the environment, and we want to do our part to reduce it. By using sustainable materials such as recycled paper and compostable materials, we aim to minimize our carbon footprint and contribute to a cleaner and healthier planet. We believe that every small step we take towards sustainability makes a big difference in creating a better future for us all.
Each piece of our jewellery is packaged using sustainable, eco-friendly materials. Every order is sent in a gorgeous eco-friendly jewellery box with a handwritten note. Our earring display cards are made with 100% recycled kraft card and our tissue paper is proudly FSC certified, acid free and printed with soy ink. We operate a zero waste policy, all clay is used up in the creation process so any leftover "scraps" from designs are reimagined into new pieces. We also aim to work with solely recycled sterling silver in order to make our finished jewellery as sustainable as possible.
